ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) – Asheboro Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire that broke out in the employee parking lot of Energizer Plant #1, prompting an evacuation of the facility.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Friday, August 25th, 2023. Firefighters from Asheboro Fire/Rescue were dispatched to the plant, located at 800 Albemarle Road, upon receiving reports of the fire in the parking lot.
Upon arrival, emergency crews found an active vehicle fire. The fire alarm system within the plant was triggered, leading to an evacuation of the employees.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze within minuites of arriving on scene.
At this time, it remains unclear whether any injuries occurred as a result of the fire, and investigators are working to determine the cause of the incident. As this is a developing story, further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
