ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) – Earlier this afternoon, police responded to a shooting incident at the intersection of S McCrary Street and Dixon Avenue in Asheboro that triggered a lockdown at two elmentry local schools.
The Asheboro Police Department reported that two males got into an argument on Dixon Avenue, during which one of them pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots. The victim managed to flee, and police do not believe he was injured.
A juvenile suspect has been detained as police continue their investigation.
The incident prompted the Asheboro Police Department to temporarily place Donna Lee Loflin and Lindley Park Elementary Schools on lockdown, as a precautionary measure due to the proximity of the schools to the incident. The lockdown was later lifted without any issues, according to Leigh Anna Marbert, Public Information Officer for Asheboro City Schools.
