ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) — Nearly 25,000 pounds of frozen taquitos, sold in ALDI’s stores nationwide, including here in North Carolina have been recalled due to possible metal contamination.

Bestway Sandwiches Inc., based in Valencia, Calif., has recalled approximately 24,870 pounds of frozen chicken and cheese taquito products due to possible contamination with metal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Friday.

The affected products are 20-ounce cartons labeled “CASA MAMITA CHICKEN & CHEESE TAQUITOS,” with “Best By” dates of 07/03/25 and 09/25/25 printed on the bottom panel. The cartons also display the establishment number “EST. P-40327.” These items were produced on July 3 and September 25, 2024, and distributed to ALDI grocery stores nationwide, including in North Carolina

The issue was identified after a consumer reported finding a piece of metal in the product. Another complaint involved a dental injury linked to the taquitos, according to FSIS. No additional injuries or illnesses have been reported.

FSIS advises consumers to check their freezers and If customers have products affected by this recall, they are advised to discard it immediately or return it to their local store for a full refund.

ALDI advises any customers impacted by this recall to call Bestway Foods Co. at (818) 361-1800 Ext. 110 for a refund or with any questions regarding the recall.
