ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) -One person was airlifted with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle on E Dixie Dr last Friday, prompting an emergency response from local authorities.

The incident occurred on Friday, July 28th, 2023, around 7:30 p.m., when emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian near the Zaxby’s on E Dixie Dr in Asheboro.

According to an accident report from the Asheboro Police Department, a 2005 Nissan SUV was traveling west on E Dixie Dr near Executive Way when a pedestrian stepped into the roadway, resulting in a collision with the vehicle.

The victim, a 28-year-old male, sustained serious injuries and was transported by Randolph County EMS to the helipad at Randolph Hospital. From there, he was airlifted by Baptist AirCare to a local trauma center for further treatment.

The driver of the SUV was not injured. As of the time of publican, no charges have been filed against the driver, and the Asheboro Police Department continues to investigate the collision.
