
LLIBERTY, N.C. (ACME NEWS) — Two individuals were taken to area hospitals on Tuesday following a shooting at a residence in Liberty, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
On Feb. 3, deputies responded to a home on Hollow Tree Drive following a call for service. The incident was initially reported as a breaking and entering in progress, but the report was updated to a gunshot and assault while units were en route.
The first responding deputies discovered two people inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies immediately administered lifesaving measures before the victims were transported to area hospitals for medical care.
The Sheriff’s Office has characterized the incident as an “active and ongoing investigation”. While specific details regarding the victims’ conditions or a potential suspect have not yet been released, authorities emphasized that the public is not in danger.
“It should be noted that there are no ongoing threats to the community related to this incident,” the Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release.
