ASHEBORO, N.C. — A joint investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and Asheboro Police Department resulted in the arrest of two people on felony drug trafficking charges.
The Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit and Asheboro Police Department Criminal Interdiction Team investigated methamphetamine distribution in the Asheboro area. The investigation led to a traffic stop on Interstate 73 in Randleman on Aug. 3.
Officers stopped a vehicle driven by Crystal Lilly Chiappini and Matthew Charles Chiappini. A search of the vehicle yielded a trafficking amount of methamphetamine.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the couple’s residence on Arrow Wood Road in Asheboro. The search revealed methamphetamine, cocaine, a stolen firearm and drug paraphernalia.
Both were transported to the Randolph County Jail. A magistrate found probable cause for multiple charges.
Crystal Lilly Chiappini was charged with two counts of felony trafficking in methamphetamine, felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held on a $15,000 secured bond.
Matthew Charles Chiappini was charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm, felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on a $5,000 secured bond.
