ASHEBORO, N.C. — Police arrested a man accused of robbing a pedestrian at gunpoint on a city street Wednesday morning.
Officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded shortly before noon on Aug. 4, 2021, to the intersection of Brewer Street and Spring Street after receiving a report of an armed robbery.
A victim told officers that a black Buick stopped beside him while he was walking. A black male suspect exited the driver’s side with a small black pistol, pointed it at the victim’s head and said: “Don’t move, don’t move or I’ll kill you.”
The suspect took the victim’s wallet, which contained $500 in cash and a debit card, then drove away, according to the police report.
Officers quickly located the black Buick at 735 Franks Street and found the suspect hiding in a nearby residence at 745 Franks Street. The suspect was identified as David Snuggs.
Snuggs was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail. A magistrate charged him with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault by pointing a gun, communicating threats, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving to endanger and assault with a deadly weapon on a government official.
He is being held on a $52,500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 6, 2021.
