ASHEBORO, N.C. — A man is being held without bond after attacking family members with a kitchen knife, though the victims were able to subdue him until police arrived, authorities said.

On Dec. 9, 2021, Randolph County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Featherstone Court in Trinity after a report of an armed person. The victims told deputies that a male had attacked them with a kitchen knife but that they had subdued him.

Deputies identified the suspect as William Edward Kuntz and placed him under arrest. EMS responded to evaluate and treat Kuntz and the victims for their injuries.

Kuntz was transported to the Randolph County Jail, where a magistrate found probable cause for charges of two counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Kuntz is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in Randolph County District Court.
