ASHEBORO, N.C. — A convicted felon was arrested in connection with a November home invasion in which he assaulted and restrained a victim, authorities said.
On Nov. 17, 2021, Randolph County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on Pisgah Covered Bridge Road in Asheboro after receiving a call from a victim who said they had escaped being tied up. The victim identified the suspect as Kevin Andrew Blue and stated that Blue had broken into the home, assaulted them and tied them up.
The victim was released when another person entered the home, allowing them to flee and call 911.
Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate Blue, who had fled the scene. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation and seized firearms owned by Blue, who is a convicted felon.
Following that investigation and a prior incident already being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Division, a magistrate issued warrants for Blue for two counts of felony assault by strangulation, felony felonious restraint, felony first-degree kidnapping, two counts of misdemeanor communicating threats, misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor assault on a female. A separate warrant was issued for felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On Dec. 30, 2021, Blue was arrested by the Thomasville Police Department and transported to the Davidson County Detention Center. A magistrate denied bond due to the domestic nature of the charges.
A first appearance was set for Jan. 5, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
