ASHEBORO, N.C. — A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a truck containing several firearms from a business in Denton last month, authorities said.

On Jan. 10, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 7000 block of North Carolina Highway 49 South in Denton after receiving a report of a vehicle theft. The victim reported that a truck containing several firearms had been stolen from the business.

On Jan. 20, 2022, the Asheboro Police Department located the stolen truck in the possession of Caleb Hunter Reeder. He was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail.

Officers discovered that the bed-mounted toolbox and catalytic converter had been removed from the vehicle. All the firearms were missing.

Reeder was charged with felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony larceny of a motor vehicle and two counts of felony larceny of a firearm by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team Urban Unit.

The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is continuing. Reeder is scheduled to appear in Randolph County District Court on Feb. 28, 2022.
