ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) — Asheboro Police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting that occured ealier this week.

At approximately 3 p.m. on August 14, 2024, officers with the Asheboro Police Departmentt responded to a report that a man had been shot near the 1400 block of North Fayetteville Street in Asheboro.

Arrviving officers discovered that following the shooting, the suspect had fled the scene, according to a press release. Officers secured the area and called for the Criminal Investigation Division to respond.

Police idetified the victim as Cedric Lee Jr., and say he was transported to a medical facility in Guilford County. When detectives arrived on the scene their investigation “led to the identification of a suspect who was quickly apprehended,” according to Jay Hanson, Assitiant Chief of Police with the Asheboro Police Department.

Police arrested 21-year-old, Alexander Pulido and have charged him with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, shooting into an occupied vehicle, going armed to the terror of the public, injury to personal property, and discharging a firearm within city limits.

Pulido is currently being held without bond. Police have not released a motive or indicated if the two knew each other. The condition of the victim remains unknown at this time.
