ASHEBORO, N.C. — A woman has been arrested after a stabbing incident at an apartment on Farmer Road in which both she and her boyfriend sustained knife wounds, according to the Asheboro Police Department.
Officers, fire and EMS crews responded Oct. 9 to 405 Farmer Rd after a 911 call reporting a stabbing. Both the woman and her boyfriend claimed the other had stabbed them.
The girlfriend told police her boyfriend became upset when she refused to have sex with him, jumped on her on the couch and stabbed her in the leg. She said she wrestled the knife away from him and he fled the apartment in a gold truck.
The boyfriend, located by police on Sunset Avenue in front of the Sunset Theater, had a stab wound to his leg. He told officers he had been stabbed in bed and wrapped the wound with a t-shirt before leaving to seek hospital treatment.
Police found blood stains on bed sheets, the kitchen counter and a doorway of the apartment.
The girlfriend’s account changed during questioning. Based on the evidence, police arrested Rhonda Harris, 32, for assault with a deadly weapon.
At a local hospital for evaluation, Harris became upset when asked about the incident and admitted to the stabbing, telling staff: “I did stab him.”
Harris was transported to the Randolph County Jail and held without bond due to the domestic nature of the charges. She is scheduled to appear in District Court on Oct. 11, 2021.
