ASHEBORO, N.C. (ACME NEWS) — A multi-vehicle accident has closed the southbound lanes of I-73/74 at the West Presnell Street exit.
Shortly after 5 p.m., Randolph County 9-1-1 received numerous reports of a crash involving several vehicles on I-73/74 near the Sunset Avenue exit.
Asheboro Fire and Rescue, along with Westside Fire Departments, were dispatched to the scene and identified two separate accident locations.
At the West Presnell Street exit on I-73/74 responders located two vehicles, including one that had overturned and was blocking both travel lanes. A single vehicle was also found on the shoulder of the southbound lanes near the Sunset Avenue exit.
Traffic was being redirected off the interstate at the Presnell Street exit. Troopers from the N.C. Highway Patrol are currently investigating the incident.

UPDATE MARCH 11, 2024 – 7:50 p.m.
Officials report that both scenes have been cleared, and the interstate has reopened.
