
RANDLEMAN, N.C. (ACME NEWS) — A 20-year-old man was fatally shot during a fight at a private residence early Saturday, authorities said.
The shooting occurred around 11:45 p.m. Friday at a home on Leonae Drive when approximately 20 uninvited guests arrived at a private party, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
A fight broke out in the front yard, and an unknown gunman fired multiple shots before fleeing the scene. Most guests also left immediately following the shooting.
The victim, Daniel Lopez Vences, 20, was taken to Randolph Hospital in the back of a pickup truck. He was pronounced dead at the hospital from his injuries.
The hospital’s emergency department went into lockdown after a crowd gathered outside. Detectives and crime scene investigators from the Sheriff’s Office responded to both the scene and the hospital, where Asheboro police secured the emergency room and the vehicle used to transport the victim.
