ASHEBORO, N.C. — Archdale Elementary School was evacuated Monday morning after staff detected a suspicious odor in one of the school buildings.
Fire departments from Randolph and Guilford counties responded to the school just after 7:30 a.m. Administrators and maintenance staff worked with firefighters to identify the source of the smell, which remained undetermined.
“At no time were any students or staff members in danger,” said Tim Moody, the Randolph County Schools Public Information Officer. “Students and staff members have been removed from the building affected by the odor and temporarily relocated to other areas on the school’s campus.”
Students and staff were allowed to re-enter the building at approximately 8:20 a.m. The school is operating on its regular schedule.
