ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) – Two women were found dead in an Asheboro home this afternoon following a shooting, according to the Asheboro Police Department.
On September 26, 2022, shortly after 1 p.m., officers from the Asheboro Police Department’s Patrol Division were dispatched to a home on Hamlin Street in response to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims at the scene.
Police say they located the bodies of 68-year-old Fatima Anne Alston and 33-year-old Tiona Rena Sesmas. Emergency crews pronounced them both deceased at the scene.
Due to the proximity of the incident to McCrary Elementary School, officers requested that the school be placed on lockdown as a precaution. The lockdown was lifted after officers determined there was no ongoing threat.
Preliminary reports suggest that there is no suspect at large, and the Asheboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is currently investigating the case. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Burnette at 336-626-1300 ext 312.
