ASHEBORO N.C. (RNN) – A Trinity man was struck and killed on Hwy 62 Monday.

According to the NC Highway Patrol at 10:23 a.m., on Monday, March 15th, 2021, Troopers responded to the report of a crash on N.C. Highway 62 near Colonial Circle in Trinity.

Tyler Lee Gray, 30, of Trinity NC, had parked his 2007 Honda pickup towing a utility trailer on the westbound shoulder of Hwy 62, partially in the roadway. Gray and was outside of his vehicle.

Lawrence Edward Walker, 80, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., was traveling west in a 2019 Ford SUV. When Walker attempted to pass Gray he was forced to swerve back into the westbound lane due to an oncoming eastbound vehicle and collided with Gray. Gray died at the scene. Walker was not injured, and charges are pending.
