ASHEBORO, N.C. — The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit arrested two men following investigations into heroin and methamphetamine distribution in the area.
Alfredo Antonio Palacios Jr. was arrested June 17, 2021, after a traffic stop and search of his residence led to the seizure of approximately 83 grams of heroin, a stolen firearm, cocaine and a large amount of U.S. currency, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The Vice and Narcotics Unit and Urban Criminal Interdiction Team stopped Palacios near Pineview Street in Asheboro and executed a search warrant on his home on Old Marlboro Road in Sophia. They found trafficking amounts of heroin in both his vehicle and residence, along with drug paraphernalia.
Palacios was charged with three counts of felony trafficking in heroin, felony possession with intent to distribute heroin, two counts of felony maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for controlled substances, felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of a firearm by a felon, felony possession of a stolen firearm, simple possession of a Schedule III controlled substance and two counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is being held on a $160,000 secured bond.
Andy Millard Atkins was arrested June 18, 2021, following a search of his home on North Park Drive in Asheboro, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The search resulted from numerous citizen complaints.
Deputies found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at the residence.
Atkins was charged with felony possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, misdemeanor marijuana possession of up to one-half ounce and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana paraphernalia.
He is being held on a $3,500 secured bond.
Both men were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center.
