ASHEBORO, N.C. — Randolph Community College has forgiven approximately $113,000 in outstanding student debt for about 200 students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Students who were enrolled at the college between March 13, 2020, and the end of the Summer 2021 semester were eligible for the debt forgiveness, the college said.
Beyond paying off account balances, RCC also provided emergency financial assistance to students for food, housing, laptops and internet access during the pandemic.
The college is offering additional student support programs for new and returning students this fall.
“We meet students exactly where they are and help them go as far as they can possibly go,” RCC President Robert S. Shackleford Jr. said.
