ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) – Tropical Storm Fred is on its way, bringing wet and muggy weather to North Carolina on Tuesday and Wednesday.
As the remnants of Fred move into the southeastern part of the state, the mountains are expected to experience heavy rain, while the Piedmont region can expect scattered showers and thunderstorms. Rain and winds may be intense at times, with potential for localized severe storms and flooding. The heaviest impacts are anticipated from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon.
Temperatures will stay in the 80s, making for a couple of muggy days. While the storm’s intensity is expected to lessen as it progresses, there’s still a slight risk of tornadoes on Tuesday night, so staying weather aware is essential. Local alerts can be received through Randolph County’s REACT system.
