ASHEBORO, N.C. — Two men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the death of a 64-year-old man whose body was found in a wooded area in Asheboro last month.

Officers were dispatched Sept. 23, 2021, at approximately 10:27 p.m. to the 100 block of Burns Street after receiving a report of a possible deceased person. They located a deceased male in a wooded area and called detectives to the scene.

The victim was identified Sept. 27, 2021, as Randy Dean Hayden, 64.

Christopher Gordon Knestrick and Samuel Lee Stone were arrested and charged with murder, felony conspiracy and common law robbery in connection with Hayden’s death.

Both men are being held in the Randolph County Jail.

On Oct. 2, 2021, Ashley Megan Morgan was served with additional warrants in connection to the investigation. She was charged with felony accessory after the fact and destroy remains to conceal death.

Morgan, already in the Randolph County Jail on felony conspiracy charges, had an additional $25,000 added to her bond amount for the new charges.

The investigation remains ongoing.
