ASHEBORO, N.C. — A man has been arrested in connection with an assault in which a victim was shot with a crossbow and hospitalized.

On Oct. 2, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about an assault on BB Trail in Asheboro. Deputies found the victim with a wound to the abdomen.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Troutman allegedly shot the victim with a crossbow and then fled the scene on foot before police arrived. Deputies were unable to locate Troutman that night. The victim was transported by Randolph County EMS to a local hospital.

On Oct. 7, 2021, Troutman was located and arrested. He was transported to the Randolph County Jail and served with a warrant for felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflict serious injury.

Troutman is being held on a $75,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for Oct. 8, 2021, in Randolph County District Court.
