ASHEBORO, N.C. — A wanted man who fled from police after crashing into a camper near Ramseur was arrested by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team this week.
On Feb. 3, 2022, a Sheriff’s deputy spotted Randall Ray Burgess at a gas station outside Ramseur. Burgess had outstanding arrest warrants. When the deputy approached the vehicle, Burgess attempted to drive away onto Lee Layne Road, leading the deputy on a pursuit.
Burgess refused to stop at the traffic stop and continued driving until turning into a driveway, where he crashed into a camper. He then fled on foot and eluded deputies.
On Feb. 14, 2022, the Criminal Apprehension Team located Burgess on North Carolina Highway 22 South in Ramseur. Also at the address was Brittany Leanne Woods Fisher, who had an outstanding arrest warrant for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both were arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail.
Fisher was served her warrant and issued a $2,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for Feb. 15, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
Burgess was served warrants from the Feb. 3 incident and multiple failure-to-appear orders. Charges include felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, felony failure to stop for blue lights and siren, misdemeanor resisting a public officer, misdemeanor injury to personal property, driving with a revoked license, reckless driving, probation violation and multiple traffic-related charges.
He is being held on a $62,000 total secured bond. A first appearance was set for Feb. 15, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
