RANDLEMAN, N.C. — A man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a Randleman Dollar General and is suspected in a string of similar robberies across three counties, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
On Feb. 15, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Dollar General on South Main Street in Randleman after receiving a report of an armed robbery. Officers collected evidence and issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) to area law enforcement agencies based on the suspect’s description and vehicle information provided by a 911 caller.
The next day, Asheboro Police pulled over a vehicle matching the BOLO description. The driver was identified as Justin Jay Oxendine.
The Asheboro Police Department contacted Randolph County Sheriff’s detectives, and a joint investigation began. The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office also joined the case.
Oxendine is believed to be a suspect in a string of armed robberies that occurred across all three jurisdictions.
On Feb. 17, 2022, detectives located and arrested Oxendine. He was transported to the Randolph County Jail and served with warrants for two counts of felony robbery with a dangerous weapon from Randolph County. He received a $50,000 secured bond on those charges.
Oxendine was also served a Guilford County warrant for felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and received an additional $50,000 secured bond.
His total secured bond is $100,000. A first appearance was set for Feb. 18, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be filed by multiple agencies.
