ASHEBORO, N.C. — Two separate homeowners caught burglary suspects in progress, leading to arrests after the suspects attempted to flee, authorities said.
On April 18, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to McNeal Street in Asheboro for a report of a burglary in progress. The victim reported arriving home to find a female inside the master bedroom.
The female suspect, identified as Traci Underwood Andrews, jumped from the bedroom window and fled on foot to a black truck. She attempted to drive through the yard but wrecked in a ditch on McMasters Street. Deputies located the vehicle with Andrews still inside.
Several bags containing the victim’s personal belongings were found throughout the residence.
On April 22, 2022, Andrews was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. She was served with outstanding warrants and charged with felony second-degree burglary, felony attempted larceny, felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor injury to personal property, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
Andrews is being held on a $15,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for April 25, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
On April 24, 2022, the Sheriff’s Office responded to Andrew Hunter Road in Franklinville for a report of a breaking and entering in progress. The victim reported arriving home to find a white male and female in the front yard carrying tools from inside the house.
When the suspects saw the homeowner, they dropped some items and ran into the woods. Deputies located the male suspect, identified as Joshua Adam Spivey, and recovered additional items from the home in the wooded area. The female suspect remains at large and has not been identified.
Spivey was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail. A magistrate found probable cause for felony breaking and entering and felony larceny.
Spivey is being held on a $5,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for April 25, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
