LEXINGTON, N.C. — A former elementary school principal has been convicted of sexually abusing a student at a Christian school more than a decade ago.
Jason Wesley Keller was found guilty Wednesday of 10 counts of sexual activity with a student, according to court records from the Davidson County Courthouse. The convictions related to sexual contact with a high school student between August 2008 and May 2009, while Keller was acting elementary school principal at Union Grove Christian School in Lexington.
On June 7, 2019, a Davidson County Sheriff’s Office detective met with the victim, now an adult, who re-reported allegations of sexual assault originally made years earlier as a student.
Investigators determined that Keller engaged in sexual relations with the student 10 times over a one-year period, according to a search warrant. The Davidson County Grand Jury issued an indictment, and a warrant was issued for Keller’s arrest on 10 counts of sexual activity with a student.
Keller was arrested in July 2019 by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office at his home in Pfafftown. He was held on a $1 million secured bond.
On June 15, 2022, Keller was sentenced to five consecutive sentences of 10-12 months each, totaling 4-5 years, followed by three years of supervised probation.
On June 15th 2022 Jason Keller was listed as a staff member on the website of the Freedom Family Church in Liberty, NC, which said he joined the church in 2009. By June 16th 2022, Keller had been removed from the staff page of the website. At the time of publication Freedom Family Church has not responded to an email requesting more information.
When we contacted UGCS to request dates of employment for Keller at the School a representative said those records were not available before quickly hanging up the phone.
