ASHEBORO, N.C. — The United Way of Randolph County is now accepting applications for emergency assistance to help city residents pay rent, mortgages or utility bills amid financial hardship from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program, a partnership between the United Way, the City of Asheboro and the N.C. Department of Commerce Rural Economic Development Division, is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the federal CARES Act of 2020.
Assistance is available only to low- and moderate-income households located within Asheboro’s city limits. Applicants must submit proof of economic hardship related to COVID-19 and complete an application.
The amount of assistance varies depending on individual circumstances.

Applications are available at www.uwrandolph.org. Click on “GET HELP” for eligibility requirements and additional details.
The United Way began accepting applications on Sept. 22, 2021.

A second phase of the program will assist organizations that provide food distribution and pantry services, officials said. Details will be announced at a later date.
