ASHEBORO, N.C. — A man wanted on multiple warrants by two sheriff’s offices was arrested in Seagrove with the help of a K9 unit, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
On Feb. 2, 2022, Randolph County and Moore County sheriff’s detectives responded to Little Brook Road in Seagrove to locate Corey Tyler Hussey. Both agencies had been investigating larceny cases involving Hussey across their counties.
A K9 tracked Hussey through thick briars near a mowed path, where he was located and taken into custody. During a search, police found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a handgun. Nearby, officers discovered remnants of a burnt GPS monitor belonging to Hussey’s bondsman.
The Moore County Sheriff’s Office transported Hussey to the Moore County Jail for processing on warrants related to an earlier vehicle chase. He was then served with warrants from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office for felony possession of a firearm by a felon, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor injury to personal property.
Hussey is being held on a $30,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Randolph County District Court on Feb. 8, 2022.
