ASHEBORO, N.C. (ACME NEWS) — A man has been arrested after traveling to Ramseur to meet what he believed was a juvenile for sex in exchange for money, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

Timothy James Norton of Siler City was arrested following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children team, which received a report of child sexual solicitation on Feb. 24, 2022.

Norton was transported to the Randolph County Jail, where a magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony soliciting a child by computer, felony solicitation of a child under 16 by computer for the purpose of committing a sex act and two counts of felony disseminating obscene material to a minor.

He is being held on a $25,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for Feb. 25, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
