ASHEBORO, N.C. — A man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping, child abuse and assault following investigations into incidents involving a child and a female victim.
Travis Lane Parsons was arrested Oct. 4, 2021, by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team after an investigation into an assault and kidnapping that occurred on Pleasant Ridge Road in Ramseur.

A deputy obtained warrants for Parsons for felony first-degree kidnapping, misdemeanor assault on a female and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.
Parsons was transported to the Randolph County Jail, where he was served the warrants. Bond was denied due to the domestic nature of the charges. A first appearance was set for Oct. 5, 2021, in Randolph County District Court.
On Oct. 5, 2021, Parsons was served with additional warrants for felony intentional child abuse causing serious bodily injury, felony intentional child abuse causing serious physical injury and felony second-degree kidnapping.
These charges resulted from a joint investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and Randolph County Department of Social Services Child Protective Services. The investigation began Aug. 1, 2021, after both agencies received a report of child abuse.
With the additional charges, Parsons was issued a $500,000 secured bond. If released, he would be subject to electronic house arrest. A first appearance was set for Oct. 7, 2021.
