ASHEBORO, N.C. — A Pine Hall man died Thursday from injuries sustained in a serious single-vehicle crash on a Randolph County road the night before.

Christopher Brian Michael, 48, was driving south on WOW Road near Phillips Road at 8:31 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, when he crossed the center line, traveled off the roadway and overturned, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Michael was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, troopers said. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Michael died at the hospital Thursday afternoon, Dec. 16, 2021, from his injuries, the State Highway Patrol said Friday.

WOW Road remained closed for nearly two hours Wednesday night while troopers investigated the crash.
