ASHEBORO, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man is in jail facing attempted murder charges after intentionally ramming a vehicle, stabbing another male and assaulting a female during a domestic disturbance in Trinity.
On Wednesday, Jan. [date needed], 2022, at approximately 9 p.m., Randolph County Sheriff’s deputies responded to what was initially reported as a vehicle accident on Loflin Hill Road in Trinity, where a car had struck a pedestrian. The situation quickly escalated into a domestic disturbance involving someone armed with a knife.
Randolph County 911 advised Fire and EMS to remain at a safe distance until deputies secured the scene.
When deputies arrived, they found two males and a female. One of the males had been stabbed and had severe lacerations. The other male was quickly identified as the suspect and placed under arrest.
According to the investigation, Steven David LeGrand had assaulted the male and female after intentionally ramming the female’s vehicle with his car. The male victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The female was treated at the scene. LeGrand, who was also injured, was treated and released into police custody.
LeGrand was transported to the Randolph County Jail and charged with felony attempted murder, two counts of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor assault on a female.
He is being held without bond due to the domestic nature of the charges. A court appearance was scheduled for Jan. 3, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
