ASHEBORO, N.C. — Two men were arrested June 15, 2021, after deputies found a stolen vehicle and discovered evidence of drug use during a search, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to Danny Bell Road after receiving a report of a stolen car. The victim identified Jesse Lee Thompson as the suspect.
At approximately 11:46 p.m., deputies located the vehicle at a house in the Poole Road area of Archdale. Inside the home, they found a crystal-like substance on a kitchen table along with multiple syringes.
Thompson was found in the home and taken into custody. As deputies arrested him, another resident, Nicholas Lee Toomes, attempted to dispose of the substance. Toomes was arrested for destruction of evidence.
Charges


A magistrate found probable cause for charges against both men.
Jesse Lee Thompson was charged with felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle. He also was served with outstanding warrants for failure to appear on driving violations and felony larceny of a motor vehicle. He is being held on a $54,000 secured bond.
Nicholas Lee Toomes was charged with felony destruction of evidence and is being held on a $4,500 unsecured bond.
Both were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center.
