ASHEBORO, N.C. — A man has been arrested and charged with rape and sexual assault following an investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
On Nov. 23, 2021, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual offense. The Criminal Investigations Division opened an investigation that led to charges against Shawn Lee Willard for felony second-degree forcible rape and felony second-degree forcible sex offense.
On Dec. 9, 2021, Willard was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail. He is being held on a $30,000 total secured bond.
A first appearance was set for Dec. 10, 2021, in Randolph County District Court.
