ASHEBORO, N.C. — The State Bureau of Investigation crime lab has determined that a bone discovered in an Asheboro home during remodeling was from a pig, not human.
On Oct. 30, 2021, Randolph County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on Grantville Lane after a resident found what appeared to be a bone in the subflooring. The resident was concerned the bone might be human.
Criminal Investigations and Crime Scene Investigations responded and collected the object, which was submitted to the SBI lab in Raleigh for analysis.
On Nov. 3, 2021, the SBI confirmed the bone was from a pig. The Sheriff’s Office has closed the investigation.
