ASHEBORO, N.C. — The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men on charges related to sex crimes against minors in separate investigations.

Kevin Lee Nunn was arrested Nov. 7, 2021, after an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children unit.

On Oct. 15, 2021, the ICAC unit received a tip that Nunn was receiving and distributing child sexual abuse material. On Nov. 5, deputies and Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a search warrant at his home.

Nunn was charged with 10 counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He is being held on a $50,000 secured bond.

James Ray Wright was arrested Nov. 7, 2021, after the Sheriff’s Office received information about a sex offense involving a minor that occurred on Fairwood Drive in Trinity.

Wright was charged with felony first-degree statutory sex offense and felony indecent liberties with a minor. He is being held on a $500,000 secured bond.

Court appearances

Both men appeared in Randolph County District Court on Nov. 8, 2021. Nunn was released from custody while Wright remains incarcerated.

The investigation into Nunn’s case is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
