ASHEBORO, N.C. — A man has been arrested after fatally stabbing his neighbor who allegedly attempted to break into his Thomasville home, authorities said.
On March 29, 2022, at approximately 10 p.m., Randolph County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on Reddy Foxx Lane in Thomasville after receiving a report of a stabbing. They found Randy Hunt suffering from stab wounds on the porch. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Fred Thomas Dyles Jr., the homeowner and the person who called 911, identified Hunt as his neighbor. Dyles reported that Hunt had attempted to break into his home and that he stabbed him in self-defense.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene. Following their investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for Dyles for second-degree murder.
Dyles was transported to the Randolph County Jail. At his first appearance on March 30, 2022, a magistrate initially set his bond at $20,000 secured. Following the hearing, the bond was increased to $100,000 secured with electronic house arrest as a condition of release if he is freed.
